In the process of research, we (the author, Irina Beletskaya) managed to establish that the values inherent in a personality type, like strengths, are dual, i.e. at the same time opposite and complement each other, like day and night. For example, if I have a “process” value, I have no “result” value. If I have “business processes” value, then I have no “people” value, etc. Personality type is a unique combination of strengths and values.
The table below shows the values corresponding to the scales extraversion (E) – introversion (I), sensory (S) – intuition (N), logic (T) – ethics (F), rationality (J) – irrationality (P).
I want to bring to your attention a description of the values inherent in the types of groups that are formed when the scales intersect logic – ethics and sensation – intuition. In accordance with our research and the work of other colleagues, each of these groups has its strengths, and within each group there is a unique value content of work.
Logic-sensory (ST) – practice.They have values in order, sustainability, process logic and responsibility. These are the people who, one way or another, from childhood through to their deathbed, will always seek order, sequence of actions, clarity of intentions. Everywhere they will stand up for responsibility: he said – he did it. Accordingly, it makes sense to offer people of these types and corresponding roles – managers or controllers. So that people can realize their values, otherwise they will become critics.
Intuit Logic (NT) – researchers or scientists. These people have research and knowledge values as such. Having been born, they begin to explore this world, and from childhood they are exclusively engaged in this. They love to learn, learn new things, so an expert career is just for them.
Intuit-ethics (NF) – humanities.They are characterized by humanism, humanity and the value of ideas as such. They will realize these values in whatever they do. I have an example about a boy who was crying all the time. Parents brought him to the consultation because they were afraid for his psyche. When he came across a negative of any kind, he began to sob. They did not understand what was happening to him. At the consultation, I identified his type (ethic – intuit) and explained to parents that children such as their son are sensitive individuals for whom it is very difficult to be close to someone else’s misfortune because they perceive it keenly and subtly feel. -feel. And therefore in their life they often realize the ideas of humanism, humanity, so that the misfortunes become less. Of course, if in childhood this ability to feel a child is not blocked. Because, as you understand, it is difficult to live with such a child who reacts so acutely to human suffering. It is easier for him to forbid the way to react Then the child’s ability to feel “freeze”( Approx . The editor –and the consequences of such a freeze would be extremely traumatic feelings ).
Sensory ethics (SF) – socials.In their values, people as such and the needs of specific people. They often act for others, often think of the convenience of others. At the same time, unlike the humanities (NF), who have ideas in the first place, the socials (SF) are very specific. A software product should first of all have a user-friendly interface: so that when people read, use or view a picture, they can clearly see it. So that, for example, at the training, the participants did not overload the information and no one had a bad mood. So that everyone always feels good – this is customer focus. And if people of these types are given the opportunity, they will naturally realize their customer focus in their activities.
It often happens that our values are not backed up by the strengths of our personality type.
For example, some researchers (NT, intuitive logic) have the value of a “relationship” that is not backed up by strengths, because there are no ethics and sensations in the strengths, with which, actually, this can be realized. Following their “relationship” value and at the same time being researchers, such people often choose the work of a psychologist. And they begin to explore people, not knowing how to build with them a real closeness and feeling of an emotional state. Then they are not very successful in concrete help to people. Due to the fact that they are sometimes distant, cold, they cannot support a person in need, they only investigate what is happening to him and explain everything to him.
Samemanagers (ST, sensory logic). Some of them also have “relations” in values, but since people of these types, by their strengths, are more focused on operational efficiency, order, stability, their actions can hurt people’s feelings and not notice it until the situation will go out of control and will not escalate into conflict.
Or socials (SF). Some of them are performance oriented. But they do not quite (and not always) understand what efficiency is, because their strengths are aimed at something else. They strive to be effective, but do not always understand how to do it. Here they need the support of a mentor or coach, they must further develop themselves.
Humanitiesfocused on efficiency and mind. But often they do not understand and do not know how to adequately demonstrate their best qualities. They are very intelligent, often well-read, are polyglot by virtue of their intuition, but do not always know how to manifest it in communication. And often, the demonstration of their intellectual baggage turns into cleverness, when a person beyond what is needed demonstrates some knowledge that is not in demand now. And then he looks stupid.
The very fact that we have values does not always lead us to a good life, because they are not always supported by our strengths.
